Esh Wednesday – Match Preview of Y&E trip to face Esh Winning

Next up for the Y&E is a trip to County Durham for our third away game in eight days, where we face Esh Winning.

Once again thanks to Dragontail Consulting for sponsoring our away games this season. It is greatly appreciated. The game kicks off at 7.30pm. Remember your cash for the gate. Postcode is DH7 9BQ

After our FA Vase exploits in Pickering, it’s back to Northern League action, as we look to keep in the mix around the playoff places. We’re still a few games behind the teams around us, and with tonight’s game followed by two home games it is a chance to keep our recent good form going.

Esh haven’t had the best of starts to the season. They’ve had a challenging six months or so, since ex manager Bobby Coltman headed to Thornaby. Pretty much all of last year’s squad who finished just outside of the playoffs, left the club. They have effectively started from scratch and recently had a further management change with Scott Oliver taking over. They are yet to win at home this season, with two draws and 4 defeats in their six league games. The two draws were against Sunderland West End and Alnwick Town. Their two wins in the league were both on Teesside, with an opening day 2-1 win at Grangetown and a 1-0 win away at Synners earlier this month. They are currently the lowest scorers in the league with just seven goals scored. Recent results in the league have shown that any team can win on any given night, so we will need to be at our best again tonight.

Last season we won 1-0 away from home, with Ste Roberts grabbing an early goal and a superb display from keeper Matty Pattison in goal making sure we took home the 3 points.

Once again Jacko has a few selection choices to make. Joe Dalton might be a doubt, with an injury against Pickering Town. Adam Groom and Leo both came back from injury against Pickering, coming on as second half subs.

Hope to see plenty of the Y&E faithful at the match.  For those not travelling, Minty will be updating Twitter and James will be updating the supporters whatsapp group.
