Y&E vs Newcastle University – Match Preview

Next up for the Y&E is the visit of Newcastle University FC to Bedford Terrace on Tuesday 28th October.

Kick Off – 7.30pm. Bedford Terrace TS23 4AE, £6 adults, £4 concessions, Accompanied U16 Free

The game kicks off at 7.30pm and is sponsored by the World’s oldest Railway pub and spiritual home of the Y&E – the Cleveland Bay, which recently celebrated its 200th birthday. The match ball is sponsored by CeramX dental laboratory. Thank you once again for your continued support, it is massively appreciated.

This game was originally due to be be played on Saturday 18th October, but due to our progress in the FA Vase it’s a Tuesday evening fixture. As a result Uni have had a two week break from Northerm League action. Their last game was a 1-1 home draw against Park View. Since then they won 2-0 at home against Northern Premier League East side Ashington FC in the Northumberland Senior Cup. An impressive scalp of a team two divisions higher.

Form wise in the league they have taken 8points in their last 6 games, with wins against Alnwick Town and Esh Winning, losses against Ryton and Redcar, and draws against Boldon and Park View. A real mixed bag!

Last season we drew 1-1 at home against Uni just after Christmas. Dan Jones scoring just before the hour mark, before a as late Joe Alderson equaliser deep in stoppage time put a dampener on the Y&E festive season. We played Uni back in August, Dylan and Tom on the scoresheet in the 1st half to seal at 2-0 home win.

It’s always a tough game against Uni. They are well organised, full of energy and like to play football. They are always competitive and we will have to be at our best to get something from the game.

Jacko once again has a full squad to choose from. The players and management will be looking to bounce back from last Friday’s home defeat against Billingham Town. The game is likely to come a little too early for forward Josh Larkin, who played for 80mins on Saturday for the U21s as he nears his first team comeback after a knee injury back in May.

The game is the only Northern League fixture taking place on Tuesday. With no other games taking place on Teesside, what better way to spend your Tuesday night than a trip to Bedford Terrace to watch the Y&E. Printed match programme is on sale, burgers and pies available in the cafe.

We hope to see you there! 🔵⚪️🦅
