For the first time in 22 days – the Y&E are back in first team football action. We are off up the A19 to face Seaham Red Star at the Alexandra Steakhouse Stadium SR7 0HP . As ever our away games are sponsored by Dragontail Consulting. Thanks massively for your support.

It seems ages since our 4-1 defeat at home against Darlington Town on Boxing Day. We’ve had two postponements since then with home games against Grangetown and Sunderland RCA falling foul of the weather , but finally we will be back playing again.
It’s a tough start to 2026, with Seaham currently sat in second place in the league on 54 points after playing 28 games. It is certainly packed in the playoff places, with positions two to seven separated by 3 points. We are currently 6th but have at least two games in hand over the other teams near us.
Red Star took an impressive 3-1 victory against FC Hartlepool on Boxing Day, with three second half goals cancelling out a first half FC Hartlepool goal. They were back in league action last Tuesday where they fell to a 5-1 defeat at home against Ryton & Crawcrook Albion. Defender Cameron McHarg was sent off on 18mins for two bookable offences in quick succession. Ryton were 3-0 up at half time, and added two more second half before a Matthew Weirs goal on 87mins for Red Star. That brought an end to a 4 game winning streak in the league.
Overall at home this season Red Star have played 15, W8 D4 L3. A goal difference of +13. This is the fourth best home record in the league.
Players to watch for Seaham, Weirs scored two against us, Benjamin Shodeinde (who was always a handful against Jarrow) and forwards Lewis Porrit and Dan Wilds all have a goal threat.
We’ve played them twice already this season, a 2-2 draw at home back in late August. A tight game that saw us take a two goal advantage in to the last 5 minutes, with Ste (75) and Marshy (84) on target before two late Matthew Weirs goals resulted in the points being shared. In the Ernest Armstrong league cup, we won 2-1 Tom (51) and Marshy (72) scoring before a 97th minute Dan Wilds penalty gave us a bit of a scare. Both games have been close, so we expect the same on Saturday.
As for the Y&E, midfielder Joe Dalton is suspended following his red card vs FC Hartlepool. Hillers picked up an injury on Boxing Day and is still on the road to recovery. HST returns after his suspension finished on Boxing Day. With a three-week break, the lads have had chance to rest but hopefully they won’t be too rusty at kick off on Saturday. Jacko & the management team will be making sure that the lads are ready to go and to start off 2026 in the right manner, with three away points.
The weather forecast looks Ok for Saturday so hopefully we’ll actually see a game of football. As ever travelling support for the Y&E is hugely appreciated and it will be great to see plenty of supporters there backing Jacko & the lads.
