Y&E away at Synners – Match Preview

It’s a short away trip for the Y&E on Saturday as we make the journey to the MAP group stadium in Stockton to face Billingham Synthonia. The game kicks off at 3pm, postcode TS19 0QD. As ever our away match sponsor is Drangontail Consulting. Thanks again for your continued support.

It’s our first Teesside derby for a while and the Synners squad is full of familiar faces, with Synners management team Ross James and Shaun Lav leaving for Synners back in August with most of our reserve side from last season. Since that move they’ve had a challenging start to life in the Northern League and Synners currently sit at the foot of the table having taken seven points from 15 games. The highlight of their season was an impressive 5-2 win away at league leaders Redcar Athletic back in September which was probably the shock result of the season so far in Divison 2.

It’s been two weeks since they were in league action, owing to the replay of their FA Vase second qualifying round fixture against Tow Law, after the ref forgot to send a Synners player to the sin bin for dissent. An FA review meant a replay which they won on penalties. They are yet to take any league points at home this season, with a win against Tow Law and the aforementioned win against Redcar Town alongside a 2-2 draw at West end making up their 7 points. Last time out in the league they lost 1-0 at home vs Esh Winning. In terms of danger men for the opposition Sam Irvine and Jayden Gray both have the potential to get goals and midfielder Sam
Lawrence will be looking to control the middle of the park.

Realistically it’s a derby against a bunch of players we know well. Form goes out of the window. It’ll be a tough game and we will need to be at our best.

After the disappointing result against Prudhoe last weekend it’s a chance for the Y&E to get back to winning ways. Squad wise Jacko will be able to call on midfielder Harry Stewart Titchner who is available after suspension. With a rare week off, hopefully a few of the minor injuries in the squad will have eased and the management team will be able to call pretty much a full squad.

With no Boro game and it’s only up the road from Yarm & Eaglescliffe, where else would you rather be on Saturday afternoon?? It will be great to see plenty of the Y&E faithful there backing the lads. Be loud, be proud and get behind the Y&E.

Howay the mighty Y&E #utyae
