It is a Tuesday night trip up the A19 to Wearside for the Y&E as we travel to Sunderland West End in a 7.45pm kick off. The match takes place at the Ford Hub SR4 0HW. Once again our away game is sponsored by Dragontail Consulting. Thank you for your support – it is massively appreciated.
West End currently sit in 13th place in the league on 41 points from 33 games. They have W11 D8 L14 scoring 48 and conceding 62. At home they are W8 D2 and L6 from their 16 home games, scoring 25 and conceding 24.
Last time out they lost 2-0 at home against Chester le Street Town. This was the third in three consecutive defeats in the league. They’ve won one game of their last 6 games, a 2-0 away win vs Prudhoe YC in mid January.
Earlier this season we won 4-0 at home vs West End. Joe Dalton scoring on 18. Ash Davis was sent off for West End on 56. The Y&E struck again on 67 through Dan Jones before Sam Conway 76 and Joe Dalton again on 90+1 sealed the victory. If memeory serves me right, Dalts had an effort ruled out late for offside for his hat-trick as well!
Last season at West End was one we won’t forget in a hurry. A poor performance from the Y&E coupled with some excellent play from West End saw the Wearsiders lead 5-2 on 90mins (Tom scoring our 1st 2) before the most mental 7 minutes in the history of the club (and some say the history of world football) saw us score 4 goals (a further 2 from Tom and 2 from Ste) in stoppage time to somehow win. It all went a bit viral after that. Rest assured we will have the Veo with us this time in case lightning does strike twice!
West End away was our first ever away victory in the Northern League way back in August 2023. Tom Atkinson with the only goal of the game.
We were brought back down to earth by West End in the Brooks Mileson league cup, last February. Losing 3-2. Dalts again on the score sheet with Cam and Zouhair Benali scoring 2 of the three against us.
Once again Jacko will have pretty much a full squad available for selection. Hillers, Ross and Charlie are still out, Joe Scaiffe Wheatley was training with the squad pre the RCA game. There are no suspensions in the squad.
Hopefully we will have a fair few of the Y&E faithful there backing the lads. With the match being played on the 4G surface at the hub, there is no need to be checking the weather forecast for rain!
Hope to see plenty of you there.
