Ryton & Crawcrook Albion (h) – Ernest Armstrong Cup Semi Final

Next up for the Y&E is an Ernest Armstrong Cup semi final against Ryton & Crawcrook Albion. The game kicks off at 7.30pm at Bedford Terrace.

Thanks to match sponsor and all round Y&E legend Dave Aninakwah and matchball sponsor Tooth Express.

The winners will play Darlington Town in the final, date and venue still TBC. It’s a chance for the Y&E to retain the trophy that we won last season against Horden CW.

In our way is a very strong Ryton side. Every time we play against them it’s a tough game. In our two league games this season, we won 2-0 away at Ryton way back in early September. Joe Dalton (63) and Pete Bulmer (90+1) on the scoresheet. That was one of our best away displays of the season, we defended well and deservedly took all three points. The return game was back in January, Josh Larkin on 83 was enough to seal another important 3 points. Again it was another tough game.

Our visitors finished the league campaign in 9th place on 65 points. Their last two games were on Teesside, a 3-0 win against Billy Town last Tuesday which was followed up by a 4-1 defeat against Grangetown last Saturday.

To get to the semi final they beat local rivals Prudhoe 4-1 in the 1st Round, Chester le Street Town 2-0 in the second round and Newcastle University 4-2 in the Quarter final. All 3 games were at home.

As for the Y&E, Jacko and the lads will be looking to keep up the momentum after a fantastic run of form throughout 2026 and reach another cup final. To get to the semi final, we beat Seaham 2-1 at home, Esh Winning 6-0 away and our landlords Billy Town 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw.

Aside from a one game suspension for Sam Conway we have pretty much a full squad available for selection. Jacko and the management team have some tough decisions to make in terms of team selection, but one thing we know is that we have plenty of quality throughout the squad and the lads will be giving 100% to see us through and get the win.

It would be great to see you at the game. Remember as it’s a league cup game, season tickets are not valid. We accept cash and card on the gate.

The cafe will be open and we’ll have plenty of hats, pin badges for sale, not to mention the half time bottle draw. See you at the game.
