Redcar Town (a) Match Preview

Next up for the Y&E is a mouthwatering Friday night clash away at league leaders Redcar Town. The game kicks off at 7.30pm at Mo Mowlam Memorial Park.

As ever this season our away games are sponsored by Dragontail Consulting. Thanks for your support, it is massively appreciated.

Redcar have been at, or close to, the top all season. Living up to their pre season billing as the team to beat in Ebac Northern League Division 2. They have assembled a quality squad packed full of experienced Northern League players and are currently sat at the summit of the league table on 61 points from 27 games.

At home in the league they are P14 W10 D1 L3 scoring 34 goals and conceding 18. Their last home game was an eventful 3-2 defeat at home against Alnwick Town. With the Alnwick defeat and a defeat away at Jarrow, they’ve taken just one point so far in 2026 ,a 2-2 draw away last weekend against Park View. They’ll no doubt be looking to get back to winning ways against us.

Our home game against them was a 2-1 defeat back in early September. A Craig Gott penalty on 37 mins and a Kyran Clark goal on 43 mins for Redcar Town followed by a 78th minute penalty from Ste Roberts which gave us some late hope but to no avail.

Last season we drew 3-3 away at Sun soaked Redcar (both our previous visits to Mo Mowlam park in the Northern league have been in beautiful August sunshine). It was an entertaining game with JL10 bagging 2 and a Joe Dalton with another. Some bloke called Foz Garton opened the scoring for Town with Jamie Lee and Chris Dickinson with their other goals. The game will also be remembered for those who were lucky enough to secure Oasis tour tickets, as that was the day they went on sale. Still not bitter that I didn’t get a ticket. Honest.

Players to watch fora Redcar Town. Well where do you start? Craig Gott, Kyran Clark, McCorie Carmichael, Jude Harrison – the list goes on. They’ve added further quality this week with winger Lewy Porritt signing from Seaham on Thursday.

As for the Y&E, confidence in the squad is high after last weekend’s home win vs Ryton. Jacko has some tough decisions to make for squad selection, especially at the back with Ethan Jones, Proc, Cam, Leo, Dan Jones all putting in some quality displays over the past couple of weeks. There are no current suspensions and midfielder Joe Hillerby continues his comeback from injury. Striker Tom Atkinson will be looking to add to his tally for the season, knowing that his closest rival for league top goal scorer Kyran Clark is lining up for the opposition.

Hopefully we’ll have plenty of support there backing the lads in what is one of the biggest games of the season so far.

Friday night under the lights in a Teesside Derby. Doesn’t get much better.
