Next up for the Y&E is a home game against Newcastle Blue Star. The game kicks off at 3pm Saturday 29th August at Bedford Terrace (TS23 4AG)

Thanks to match sponsor David Knowles Funeral Service & the match ball is sponsored by The Y&E Chester supporters branch. Thank you all for your support- it is massively appreciated

We head in to the game on the back of an impressive run of league results. Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Redcar Town followed on from our 3-1 home win against North Shields and 1-0 away win at Carlisle City. At the heart of these wins has been our work rate and defensive solidity as a whole team. That’ll be needed again on Saturday.

Blue Star currently sit in 13th place, with a record of P8 W3 D1 L4 F16 A19. Away from home they are P3 W1 D0 L2. Their away win being an impressive 3-1 victory at Blyth Town. Their 2 away defeats were at Shildon (4-2) and Easington (4-1). Last time out they left it very late at home against Northallerton scoring in the 90th and 93rd minute to seal a 2-1 win.

We’ve played Blue Star twice in the league. Back in August 23 we lost 2-1, with Ross Harrison scoring our first ever goal in Northern League. (Some lad at right back for us that night is still having nightmares of lining up against their pacy winger!)

Then in November 23 we staged the first of our iconic late comebacks! Trailing 3-0 after 65mins, a Charlie Fixter goal got us back to 3-1 on 66mins before an 87th minute goals from Josh Larkin, was followed by another Fixter goal on 90mins and then Cam Wild was on hand on 90+3 to bundle home the winner. Quite the comeback from the Y&E and one to remember from our first season.

Jacko is back from Holiday and he’ll be delighted with the four points we picked up whilst he was away. Credit to the rest of the management team. Richie, Glenn, Jona and Faz. Squad wise, a few injuries in the squad, but players are on the way back to fitness with Sam Conway and Jack Dalton both making the bench in recent games.

It promises to be another entertaining game and we’ll be looking to build on our strong start to life in Division 1. Blue star normally bring a good travelling away support, it’ll be brilliant to see plenty of the Y&E faithful at the game. Yes the Boro are at home, but hopefully plenty of you will make a swift getaway from the Riverside to get over to Bedford Terrace for kick off.

As ever a printed match programme will be on sale, our half time 50/50 draw will be on sale and we’ll have food & drinks in the cafe. There will be merchandise on sale as well.

We hope to see you at the game getting behind the Y&E
