Next up for the Y&E is a trip to Essity Park (NE42 5EH) in Prudhoe to face Newcastle university. The game kicks off at 3pm and once again our away games are sponsored by Dragontail consulting.
This is our penultimate away league game, and it promises to be another tough game. It’s tight at the top of the league, with the Y&E sitting in 2nd place in the league, just two points behind Redcar Town, who have a game in hand.

Tom Atkinson has been in scintillating form of late, scoring 12 in his last 4 games to take him to 36 for the season. The last few games have helped our GD, we are +21 over the last 6 league games scoring 24 and only conceding 3.
This is a big week ahead, but all we can do is take it one game at a time and make sure we do what we need to do on the pitch.
In our way today is a Newcastle Uni team who aren’t on the best run of form in the league, but are more than capable of getting a result. Overall they are 9th in the table, P40 W17, D9, L14, scoring 61 conceding 55. At home they are P19 W8 D5 L6, scoring 26 & conceding 19. A strong defensive record at home.

Last six league games have seen Uni take 4 points, with 4 defeats including last time out at home to FC Hartlepool on Thursday where they lost 2–1 at home. They also ran Redcar Towm close last Monday, with a late Craig Gott penalty sealing the points for Redcar.
Uni have made good progress in cup competitions. They face NPL East side Heaton Stannington next Tuesday in the Northumberland Senior Cup semi final, having beaten NPL East Ashington and Alnwick Town in previous rounds. They are also in the Brookes Mileson league cup QF where they will face Newcastle Blue Star.
We’ve played Uni twice this season, back in August a 2-0 win in the FA Vase, Dylan Gnaglo & Tom scoring in the first half, then in late October a 2-1 win with Hillers & Tom on the scoresheet. Last season we won 3-1 away, with an impressive display back in September 2024. JL10, Marshy and Reece McMann on the scoresheet for us.
Squad wise, once again Jacko has pretty much a full squad at his disposal with no new injury concerns.
It will be great to see some of the Y&E faithful there, making the trip up to the Tyne Valley. For those at the Boro game, updates will be on Twitter & the supporters WhatsApp group.
A big week ahead. Bring it on
