Match Preview
Seaham Red Star (H)
3pm Ko Saturday 30th August 2025

Next up for the Y&E is our first Saturday home league fixture of the season as we welcome Seaham Red Star to Bedford Terrace. The game kicks off at 3pm, so plenty time for Boro fans to make it from the Riverside after their early home game vs Sheffield Utd. The Newport Bridge is back open as well. The match is sponsored by Cutting Edge Grounds Maintenance and the match ball is sponsored by Finance Solutions Northern. Thanks for your support it is massively appreciated
Seaham head down the A19 to us currently sat in 3rd place in the league. They’ve had an excellent start to the season after relegation from division one. They are joint top scorers in the league with 21 goals from their first 9 games, and have only conceded 7 goals.(best record in league after 9 games). Away from home so far this campaign they have won 3 and drawn 1, scoring 10 goals and conceding only 2. They are the only unbeaten team in the league, including a late late comeback at home against Redcar Town earlier this month with Lewis Rutherford scoring in the 90th and 92nd minute to grab a 2-2 draw. Last time out they drew 0-0 at home against Park View. It’s the same in every preview – but this will be a very tough game.
The Y&E have bounced back well following our defeat away at Hartlepool. A home win in the FA Vase last week and an excellent 1-0 away win at Sunderland RCA in midweek. We’ve only played one home league game this season, a 1-1 draw vs Newbiggin. Now’s a chance to get our first home three points. The defensive back 5 could be unchanged for the 3rd game in a row (unheard of I know!!). In midfield, Josh Marshall is likely to be available for selection after the missing the last two games. Up front Tom Atkinson will be looking to get on the scoresheet again.
Hopefully we can get a decent crowd in to back the lads. We’ve had some decent away followings recently, and it would be brilliant to back this up with a good home crowd. Hopefully a fair few of you will be doubling up the Boro game with the Y&E. Remember your £1s for the blindcard and as ever Minty’s excellent match programme will be available. Every penny you spend in the cafe or on programmes & blindcard goes towards the running of the club.
For those of you not there, match updates are available on Twitter and on the supporters WhatsApp group. If you can’t make it you can always donate your gate money to the club. Get in touch for details.
