Match Preview Y&E Welcome League Leaders Redcar Town

Saturday 6th September

3pm Kick Off. Bedford Terrace TS23 4AE

After Wednesday’s excellent away win at Ryton, it’s back to Bedford Terrace as league leaders Redcar Town make the trip from the Trunk Road to play us. The game kicks off at 3pm, (TS23 4AE). Gates open from 2pm, printed match programmes and a range of refreshments for sale, not to mention Minty’s legendary half time bottle draw. Massive thanksto match sponsor Renner Kompressoren and match ball Liam Collow aka Chair of the Y&E Scottish supporters group.

We also welcome Riverside Juniors U9s to the game as mascots. We hope you all have a fantastic day and make plenty of noise to support the Y&E.

Redcar Town were many people’s pre season favourites for the title given the squad that they have assembled. It’s packed full of quality players, many of which were regulars in division one last season. They’ve lived up to that billing so far this season and currently sit top of the league on 26 points after 11 games. They’ve won 8, drawn 2 and lost 1 this season. Away from home they’ve won 5 of their 6 away games this season, scoring 15 and conceding 6. They only dropped points were against Seaham, where they conceded in the 90th and 92nd minute to draw after being 2 goals up from the 22nd minute. Seaham clearly like late 2-2 comebacks!

Striker Kyran Clark is the league’s second top scorer with 10 goals, including a four goal haul against Esh Winning a couple of weeks back.

Last time out, Redcar Town drew 0-0 at home against Park View. The first time this season that they have failed to score.

Last season we drew 3-3 away from home last August, with Joe Dalton and Josh Larkin double for the Y&E. Some bloke called Foz Garton scored for Redcar Town with Jamie Lee and Chris Dickinson getting the others. My main memory of that game was my phone timing out at the ground as I was about to select tickets for Oasis. In the home game we won 2-1 back in February. JL10 and a late Tom Atkinson winner with Clayton McDonald scoring for Town.

Squad wise, Jack Dalton is suspended following a second booking after the match last weekend against Seaham. Tom Atkinson should be back after missing the last two games. It was a tough game on Wednesday so the management team will be checking on fitness before selecting the team.

As ever your support is massively appreciated and we look forward to seeing you at the game.
