Match Preview

FC Hartlepool (a)

Saturday 16th August 2025 3pm ko

Next up for the Y&E is a trip to Grayfields Enclosure to face FC Hartlepool. The game kicks off at 3pm, postcode is TS24 8PJ. As ever this season our away games are sponsored by Resolution Compliance. Thanks once again for your support it is much appreciated.

Grayfields hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the Y&E. Both Northern League visits there have ended in defeat. Last season saw us put in one of our worst second half displays of the season as we lost 4-2, Ste Roberts opening the scoring on 23 minutes, with Nathan Bayes levelling on 34mins. After the break Bayes grabbed another, Mikey McGee scored before Tom got one back & then McGee grabbed another in the last ten minutes. We hopefully broke our Grayfields hoodoo last May as it was the scene of our Ernest Armstrong league cup victory over Horden CW

FC have had a good start to the league campaign & currently sit in 9th place on 10 points after 6 games. Nine of those points have come at home, scoring 8 goals in total & only conceding one. Last time out was a 1-0 midweek win over Park View, a 39th minute Mikey McGee effort being the difference between the sides. Some might say that this is our toughest game of the season.

As for the Y&E, our good performance against Tow Law on Tuesday ultimately came to nothing as floodlight failure meant a comfortable 2-0 cushion was wiped off the records & match abandoned. The team will be looking to keep that quality of performance as they look to make sure their unbeaten start to the league season doesn’t fade away.

With summer holiday season coming to a close Jacko has a few more players available for selection. We say Hello to Experienced defensive pair Dan Jones & Jack Dalton both played on Tuesday & will be pushing for selection. Left back Adam Groom is out for a few weeks with a foot injury plus Charlie Fixter and Josh Larkin continue Little by Little to build fitness ahead of their long awaited returns from injury. Club Captain Cam Wild is also back after a Supersonic trip to Edinburgh on Tuesday to see Oasis. He could potentially be part of Jacko’s Masterplan to create a Defensive Wonderwall to make sure the Y&E don’t slide away to defeat.

As ever any away support is appreciated.

Howay the mighty away day Y&E ⚪️🔵🦅
