Grangetown Boys Club (h) Match Preview

Next up for the Y&E is a Teesside Derby as Grangetown Boys Club make are the visitors in a 7.30pm kick off at Bedford Terrace. Massive thanks to Renner Kompressoren who are our match sponsor and Y&E Scottish supporters club chairman Liam Collow who is our matchball sponsor. Your support is massively appreciated.

The game is rearranged from way back on the 29th November, when a torrential rain meant the game was a non starter.

The Y&E will be looking to get back to winning ways after Saturday’s 2-2 draw away at Newbiggin. Dan Jones with a 90+6 equaliser after a tight action packed game. That kept up our unbeaten start to 2026. We are still right up there in the playoff race, but with other teams around us winning, it’s important to get back to winning ways.

Once again Jacko has a strong squad to choose from. Charlie Fixter is close to a return after missing the last few games. Once again it’ll be a tough decision on who to play in defence.  This is the first of 8 games we’ve got in March.

The Boysie currently sit in 17th place on the league. P32 W8 D8 L16 so far this season, scoring 39 and conceding 63. They are in a good spell of form LLWDWW in last 6 games.  Taking 10 points from their last 4 games. Last time out was a 1-0 win at home against Darlington Town, Lewis Martin with a 90th minute winner.  They’ve kept 3 clean sheets in the last 6 games, which shows a defensive improvement as they had only kept two shut outs until then this season.

Last season in the corresponding fixture, we won 5-0. Tom with a first minute goal and Ste Roberts in the first half, before Joe Dalton, Ste again and Josh Larkin scored in the second half. Ste’s second goal was an absolutely worldie, a sublime volley from distance. Just a shame it was before we got our Veo!  Earlier this season a late Tom Atkinson goal salvaged a point for us in a 2-2 draw. Marshy put us 1-0 up on 7, before McCowie (12) and Joe Dixon (60) put Boysie 2-1 up. Charlie Paterson saw red after collecting his second yellow on 65.

It’ll be another tough game and it will be good to see a good crowd at Bedford Terrace backing the lads.

As ever there will be hot food & drinks for sale in the cafe, Minty will be selling printed programmes and numbers for the half time blind card.
