Alnwick Town (h) Match Preview.

Next up for the Y&E is a home game against Alnwick Town on Saturday 21st February. The game kicks off at 3pm at Bedford Terrace (TS23 4AE).

Massive thanks to Cutting Edge Grounds Maintenance for sponsoring the match and to Maurice & Andy Fixter for sponsoring the match ball. Guy has been hard at work sorting the pitch out and it looks 👌

It’s back to league action for the Y&E after the 6-0 midweek victory in the Ernest Armstrong League Cup away at Esh Winning. The lads put in a really good performance on a heavy pitch with 2 goals each for Ste Roberts & Tom Atkinson, with Pete Bulmer & Joe Dakton getting the other two. Esh maybe bottom of the league but they worked hard throughout and the lads played well.

Jacko was able to rest a few players, with Proc, Leo, Dan Jones and Marshy not making the trip. They will all likely be in the mix for selection today. Charlie Fixter is close to a return to playing and will hopefully be back ahead of a busy March schedule for the lads.

Against us today is a dangerous Alnwick Town side. They currently sit in 8th place in the league on 50 points, in touching distance of the playoff places. They’ll be hoping a good tun of results to see out the season can move them in to contention in the playoffs. They are the third top scorers in the league behind our landlords & Redcar Town.

Overall this season they are P30 W14 D8 L8. There last six games in the league are LLDDWW. Today will only be their 3rd league game of 2026. Last time out was a 3-1 away at Boldon and before that they took an impressive 3-2 away win at Redcar Town, a win that was very much welcomed by the Y&E! Their last game in all competitions was a 2-0 home defeat against Newcastle University in the QF of the Northumberland Senior Cup.

In our reverse fixture back in September after an even start we put in a dominant display winning 4-0. Dan Jones with a goal juts before half time before a 16minutes second half hat-trick from Tom Atkinson sealed the three points. Last season we won 3-0 at home (another Tom A hat trick) and 3-1 away (Tom with 2 goals) this time!

Looking at the scoring charts the visitors have Euan Potts and Jamie Clark on 13 & 14 goals respectively. But both players have left the club this season, Potts joining Blyth Spartans in late September after a blistering goal scoring start to the season (he’s now at Blyth Town) and Clark has also recently moved to Spartans. Despite losing Clark, it will be a tough game against the Northumbrian side and the lads will need to be at their best to take the three points.

It would be great to see plenty of the Y&E support at the game today. Yes the Boro may be at home, but you know it’s way more enjoyable watching the Y&E! As ever every person through the gate and every penny spent at the club makes a huge difference.

We hope to see you there. Howay the mighty Y&E
