Next up for the Y&E is the 1st round proper of the FA Vase as we head west over the Pennines to face Fulwood Amateurs.
Thanks once again to our away game sponsors Dragontail Consulting. Your support is massively appreciated.
It’s a 3pm kick off over in Preston, with the bus leaving the Town Hall in Yarm at 10.30pm. A huge thanks to sponsors Yarm Distillery, Merritts Solictors, Junction Autopark and David Knowles Funeral service who are supporting our travel costs to the game.
Our FA Vase journey this season has seen us beat Thackley away 1-0 and Kendal Town 2-0 at home. All three goals scored by Tom Atkinson.
The Y&E head in to the game on the back of their best performance of the season on Tuesday, with an impressive 4-0 home win against Marske Utd. The lads will be going in to the game with with confidence but at the same time we know we will be in for a tough game against the side who knocked us out of the second round last season.
Last season the Y&E were so close to making it to the 3rd round after a quick fire second half double from Tom (54 & 58) setting them up nicely, but 2 late late goals from Spencer Lucas 90+3 and Ben Jackson 90+4 took it to penalties where Fulwood prevailed 5-4 on penalties. A sickener for the Y&E but one we learned from as a club.
Fulwood currently sit in 13th place in North West Counties Football league, first division North (step6). Their record is P12 W4 D4 L4 F24 A21. Last league game out was a 3-0 win at home against Daisy Hill. Last 6 games they are W4 L2 F11 A6. Their danger man is Spencer Lucas who has scored 17 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions
Squad wise, Jacko will have had to have make some really tough decisions to make squad wise. It would take a brave man to change the starting XI from Tuesday given how well we played, but there is plenty of quality on the bench not to mention Marshy back from suspension! The lads are long to progress in the FA Vase and there will be nobody taking the game lightly. We know we will have to be at our best to progress.
For those of you not making the trip to Preston, the Y&E reserves are in action at Allens West against Grangetown Reserves. The game kicks off at 12pm, get down there before getting the train to watch the Boro.
