REECE LIGHTNING MAGIC HELPS SEAL 4-1 WIN

No James Gilroy sadly again this afternoon so you have another Minty match report,
rumours circulating around Bedford Terrace before kick off the chairman had gone on
his 5th holiday this summer.

I was certainly looking forward to today’s game, the weather was decent and we had Y&E
supporter Liam Collow making the journey down from Scotland for the weekend which is
always entertaining. My first shout out in today’s match report though goes to Guy
Jones who had done an amazing job on the pitch this past week and had it looking great
for the lads on Saturday morning.

The scoreline of 4-1 if being honest probably doesn’t truly reflect the game overall,
Kendal played some very good football at times, and they certainly put in a great effort
over the 90mins. The Y&E though continued great start to season running out 4-1
winners and were clinical at times.

The first 5min saw chances at both ends and it didn’t take long for the deadlock to be
broken early in the 8min, Kendal corner to back post and a looping headed towards goal
by captain Bailey Kenny found the back of the net, despite the best efforts of Joe Dalton
to keep it out.

The Y&E equalised in the 25min, Reece McMann pulled back and Ste Roberts made no
mistake from the spot slotting it into the bottom corner to level things up.

This gave the lads more confidence and the Y&E went 2-1 up in the 28min thanks to a Joe
Dalton goal from close range. The Kendal keeper had made a superb save from a Jack
Proctor effort, but Dalts was first to react .

The second half Jacko had to make a quick change when Josh Marshall went down
injured, hopefully nothing serious as Marshy has been immense for us so far this season.
Cam Wild back into the action for the Y&E.

Kendal had a good spell for 15min with Callum Roberts making a couple of solid saves to
keep it at 2-1.

The next goal was always going to be decisive and that came in the 79min through Tom
Atkinson, Reece McMann playing the through ball to put Tom through on goal and he
doesn’t miss these and fired past the keeper to make it 3-1.

Kendal went down to ten men shortly after the third goal and player into the sin bin.

The goals didn’t end there and that man again Reece McMann with the assist into the box
to find Mikey Roberts who found the back of net from close range to make it 4-1. This was
the last action of the game and great result for the lads as we continue the strong start to
the season.

Huge credit to Kendal Town who didn’t give up and put in a great effort, also shout to the
Kendal supporters who all made the trip to Teesside and were in full voice all afternoon.
Great club and supporters and we look forward to welcoming you back in the FA Vase.
today.

MOTM picked by match sponsor Paul Stoker was awarded to Reece McMann, three assists
and a great shift from Reece Lightning.
