Next up for the Y&E is a home game against Penrith at Bedford Terrace as the lads look to continue their impressive start to the season.
Massive thanks to David Knowles Funeral Service for sponsoring the game and to Y&E away day connoisseur Maurice Fixter for sponsoring the match ball. Good to see Maurice putting his winning from the horses to good use!

The match kicks off at the slightly later time of 7.45pm Tuesday 4th August. The Cafe will be open pre match so grab yourself a pie or a burger, whilst you read through Minty’s matchday programme. After you’ve bought a few goes on the 50/50 draw.

Penrith head over the A66 after a tough start to their league campaign. The currently sit bottom of teh league after losing their first three games of the campiagn. An opening day 1-0 defeat at home against Easington Colliery was followed by a 5-0 home defeat against early pacesetters Blyth Town. On Saturday they fell to a 4-0 defeat away at Crook Town. Despite the tough start, we know that this will be a difficult game and we will need to be at our best to get anything from the game. Last season Penrith finished 12th in the league on 42 points. Away from home they were W4 D4 L10.
As for the Y&E, Saturday at Birtley saw another late combeack with Bubba (Sponsored by Cutting Edge Grounds Maintenance ) and Tom (sponsored Cutting Edge Grounds Maintenance & Lisa Kyle) grabbing stoppage time goals to take all three points. Ste Roberts (sponsored by Angela Cronin) bagged his second goal in two games in the first half, after his stoppage time strike last Tuesday sealed a point away at Horden. Players and supporters alike will be hoping for a few more straightforward wins to come, but we’ll take points however we get them!
There was some good news with Jack Proctor’s (sponsored by the Y&E Ultras) red card against Horden being cancelled, so he no longer has a three game suspension. There is a few niggles and injuries to manage in the squad, but once again Jacko will have a decent sized squad to pick his starting XI from. The depth of teh squad was on display on Saturday with all of teh subs coming on to make a positive contribution in tehg closing stages.
It would be great to see a decent midweek crowd at the game. The weather forecast looks good for kick off, with some later afternoon rain to add a bit of zip to the pitch. We look forward to welcoming you to Bedford Terrace.
