The game is equally important for each team, with Synners looking to close the gap to safety to just a point and Y&E looking to solidify their place at the top of the table, knowing its better to have the points on the board than the games in hand, which Redcar Town have.

Despite the difference in league position, we know nothing is taken for granted in this game and all will be expecting a hard fought contest from each side. Not least because of the history between the two sides. Many a familiar face will be present on Saturday afternoon, with no less than eight Synners players having represented Yarm & Eaglescliffe in the past 12 months. Players to watch include ex Y&E Reserve Team striker Sam Irvine who has scored 17 goals this season and midfielder Sam Lawerence.

The last meeting between the two ended in a 3-2 win for Y&E, which, at the time, put a 38-point gap between the two teams, partly due to Synners 6-point deduction given in late 2025. Currently, the gap between the teams is 49 points with Y&E sitting pretty at the top and Billingham Synthonia sitting second from bottom.

Yarm & Eaglescliffe hold the advantage on recent form, as they are unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions, and recently making it to the semi-finals of the Ernest Armstrong Cup on Tuesday night against Billingham Town as they look to retain the trophy. Jacko took the opportunity to roatate the squad on Tuesday and it is likely there will be some changes in the starting XI.

For Synners, the recent form is a different story, losing four of the last five. Their only win coming in a 4-2 home win vs Boldon CA. Last time out they lost 1-0 at home against Park View. Regardless of form though games like this are often unpredictable. The Y&E will need to ready for a tough game against a team fighting for survival.

Get yourself down to back the lads as we push on towards the end of the season
