Y&E away at Tow Law- Match Preview

After last weekend/s postponed game against Newbiggin, the Y&E are hoping for better luck with the weather as we head up (literally) to County Durham to face Tow Law in a 3pm kick off.  Once again the game is sponsored by Dragontail Consulting – thank you once again for sponsoring our away games this season.

Remarkably this will be our first game away from Bedford Terrace since we faced Synners back on October 11th and our first Saturday game since we beat Chester le Street Town 1-0 back on the 1st November.

It’ll be our first ever visit to Ironworks Road, with the Lawyers playing in Division one in each of our two seasons in the Northern League

The Lawyers currently sit in 21st place in the league on 15 points.  Their record after playing 24 games is W4 D3 L17 with a goal difference of -32.  They’ve had a tough season so far, and have recently changed management.  Dion Raitt and this management team leaving in late November to be replaced by Matty Thompson, who was a joint manager at Blyth Town.  He is supported on the bench by Paul Gardiner, Steve Pickering and Paul Goldsbrough.  Their first game in charge fell victim to the weather, as it was abandoned at half time away at Park View as they were trailing 3-0.  Last time out they fell to a 4-2 defeat away at Boldon CA.

We’ve already played them over a game and bit this season.  Our home game was abandoned back in August when the floodlights wouldn’t turn on.  The Y&E were 2-0 up then. The rearranged fixture was played on the 11th November.  The Y&E ended up wining 4-0, with Hillers scoring on 37, Joe Dalton on 56, a Tom pen on 64 and Tom getting his second on 87 minutes. The last 10 mins played in monsoon like conditions.

With a new management team in place, they have registered a few new players, and will be looking to get some points against us in the manager’s first home game in charge.

As for the Y&E, Jack Dalton, Joe Hillerby and Alex Dougall are all suspended following the York City game.   Charlie Fixter and Ross Harrison are both out with injury.  New signing Jack Proctor should be available subject to his registration going through in time. Jacko will be looking for us to get some points on the board in the league once again, we’ve only played 21 games (joint lowest in the league with leaders Redcar Town) and have games in hand over the teams around us in the playoff places, but it’s points on the board that count.  With two tough home games against Jarrow and Hartlepool following this one, it’s important that we get something from the trip to Tow Law to set us up for the pre Christmas run in.

Hopefully we’ll see a few of the Y&E faithful their backing the lads.  You can’t beat an away trip watching the Y&E.  All eyes have been on the weather over the last few days and thankfully the forecast is looking promising (I’m glass half full).

Howay the mighty “finally an away game” Y&E
