Next up for the Y&E is a a trip up the A19 to the Northumberland Coast to face AFC Newbiggin. This will be third go at playing this game, with the original fixture pushed back due our FA Vase fixture vs Fulwood and the rearranged game on the 22nd November falling foul do the weather.
Remarkably this will be our first game away from Bedford Terrace since we faced Synners back on October 11th.

As ever our away games are sponsored by Dragontail consulting – thanks once again for your support. The game kicks off at 3pm, at Holcin Park, Newbiggin Sports & Community Hub, NE64 6HG. I think it’s our second longest away trip of the season after Alnwick away. Don’t forget to pay your Tyne Tunnel charge!
Newbiggin currently sit in 15th place in the league on 30points. This is their first season in the Northern League, and they have been tough opponents to face. I was very impressed with them back in July when we drew 1-1 with them at Bedford Terrace. They played some good football & were tough to break down. Tom Atkinson scored his first of the season & Jay Barber equalised just before half time to share the points.
Form wise Newbiggin have won 2 of their last 6 in the league, a 4-0 win vs Esh Winning and a 2-1 win vs Ryton. They’ve lost their last 3 games, with defeats against Synners, Park View and last time out 3-2 at home against Newcastle University. They went 2 goals up, with an Ethan Smith double just before half time, but conceded three goals in 4 second half minutes around the hour mark. Overall at home they’ve had an even season, W4 L4 D4. Scoring 18 and conceding 13. Players to watch include Ethan Smith who has scored 9 this season and Jay Barber and James Cooper who have 5 goals each.
Their game last weekend was postponed, but they did face Alnwick Town at home in the Ernest Armstrong League Cup where they fell to a 5-1 home defeat.
As for the Y&E, Jack Dalton, Joe Hillerby and Alex Dougall are all suspended following the York City game. The lads will be looking to build on the impressive second half display against Seaham in the Ernest Armstrong league cup, and the County Cup display against York City, perhaps without the nail biting finish with late penalties conceded.
All eyes will be on the weather tomorrow and hopefully no postponement. Keep your eyes peeled on our social media feeds for updates.
Hope to see plenty of the Y&E faithful there backing the lads on our first visit to AFC Newbiggin.
Howay the mighty finally an away game Y&E
