Landlords vs Tenants in the Bedford Terrace El Classico

It’s the Bedford Terrace derby tonight as the Y&E check in to the away dressing room ready to face our landlords Billingham Town.

It’s a 7.30pm kick off and remember as it is an away game your Y&E season tickets are not valid. Massive thanks again to our away match sponsor Dragontail Consulting for their continued support.

Billy Town come in to this game on the back of late late late drama in their match vs Sunderland West End on Tuesday. After conceding in the 93rd minute to go 3-2 down, goals from Charlie Watt and Josh Stiff in the 95th & 96th minute were enough to give them a remarkable 4-3 win. West End do seem to encourage late comebacks!

Last weekend they bowed out of the FA Vase at home against Brigg Town, losing 2-1, Dale Hopson with an injury time goal for Town. In the league they’ve won 4 of their last six, with the other 2 being defeats consecutive defeats against Alnwick Town and Tow Law before their comeback against West End. There has been plenty of goals in their recent league games, 29 (18 for and 11 against) in their last 6 matches. Their top scorer Kieran Stares left this week to join Redcar Town, but Charlie Watt is dangerous in front of goal.

Last season we won 5-0 in our away fixture back in February. Tom and JL10 both with a couple of goals each, and a late Cam Wild header in a comprehensive victory for the Y&E. We also won the home game, 2-0 on Boxing Day. A JL10 pen and a Lennox Barry own goal for the festive three points.

After the fantastic 5-0 win against Colne in the FA Vase, the focus moves towards the three points tonight. Jacko has a pretty much full squad to choose from once again. The game is likely to come too early for the return of JL10, who had a good run out for the U21s last weekend. Tom will be hoping to continue his good run of goals, scoring in his last 3 games. The defence looked solid last weekend, and will need to be in top form against a free scoring Billy Town side.

It promises to be a cracker. Hope to see plenty of the Y&E faithful there.

Howay the mighty short away trip Y&E 🔵⚪️🦅
