Ever since the draw was made this has been a fixture that the Y&E faithful have been looking forward to. The bus is fully booked, the excitement is building for what promises to be a cracking day for everyone associated with the club as we look to continue on the road to Wembley! Massive thanks to Dragontail Consulting, our away match sponsor.

In our way stand a very good side. Playing in the NCEL Premier league, The Pikes are in step 5, and have got off to an impressive start to the season, which included a game against Step 4 side Runcorn Linnets which was broadcast live on BBC iplayer and the BBC website last weekend as the featured game of the FA Cup second qualifying round in front of a crowd of 1026! They may have lost 2-0 but they put in a very good performance against higher league opposition. Already this season they have played some North East teams, beating Easington 2-0 away in an FA Cup 2nd preliminary round replay and a convincing 5-2 victory over Redcar Athletic in the FA Cup 1st qualifying round. In the first qualifying round of the FA Vase they beat Horden at home 2-0.
In the league they currently sit 10th on 15 points, but due to their cup exploits they have a few games in hand over teams higher up. Last time out on Tuesday they drew 4-4 with Horbury Town coming back from 3-1 down at half time to score 3 second half goals, Souleymane Coulibaly with a 92nd equaliser for his hat trick.
We’ve played once before in a pre season friendly at Conyers back in July 2024. We won 5-3 and I’ll be brutally honest I know I was there, but I haven’t got a clue who scored and what happened, as it was a pre season friendly!
After Tuesday’s impressive display away at Alnwick, the lads will be looking to keep up the momentum in what promises to be a tough test at Mill Lane. There is a few injury concerns, with Freddie McBride going off just before half time at Alnwick, Ste Roberts will be looking to get back to fitness soon. Charlie Fixter is getting closer to a first team return, but is likely to get a run out for the U21s on Saturday afternoon.
For those on the bus, it leaves the Town Hall at 1145 prompt. Earlier we leave means the earlier we get a nice cold pint at Pickering! For those of you unable to make it, the Reserves are at Conyers playing Saltburn Athletic , kick off 2pm. Match updates from Pickering will be on Twitter and the supporters WhatsApp group.
