Match Preview
Chester le Street Town (a)
Saturday 26th July 2025 3pm Ko

First game of the new season is the finally here. Although the last few months since Cam lifted the Ernest Armstrong Cup back in early May have flown by.
It’s a trip up the A1(M) to Moor Park (DH2 3BX) to face Chester le Street Town.
Massive thanks to our new away match sponsor for 25/26 Resolution Compliance. Your support is greatly appreciated.
We start the season with a clean slate. Pre season and last season is very much now in the rear view mirror. 42 games to go against 21 other teams who will all be looking to get on over on us. On thing is for sure Jacko & the management team will have the players feet very much on the ground and they’ll be taking it all one game at a time.
Having suffered opening day defeats the past two seasons, Prudhoe at home in 23/24 & Ryton away in 24/25, the Y&E will be looking to get off to a much better start this campaign. Standing in our way is a Chester le Street Town side that will be looking to improve on last season where they finished 16th in the league.
We played the Cestrians away in our last league game of 24/25 back in April. Two early headers from set pieces from Cam & Dan Jones put us 2-0 up before a second half Tom hat trick saw us finish 5-0 winners. Last seasons home game last November and Tom bagged another hat-trick as we won 3-1.
The hosts appointed a new management team over the close season with Lee Haladene now their manager. He has brought in a range of new players for this season and the team will be very different from the line up we faced back in April. They’ll be a very tough test for the Y&E.
With a range of new signings, the Y&E have increased their strength and depth. With a variety of differing line ups & formations being used across pre season it’ll be interesting to see who Jacko selects today. One thing is for sure with a run of consecutive Saturday / Midweek fixtures from now until late September we’ll need every bit of that strength & depth.
It promises to be a cracking start to the season & it’s only 45mins or so to get there. They also have a really good clubhouse as well for some pre & post match refreshments. Hopefully see plenty of the Y&E faithful there backing the lads.
Howay the mighty Y&E
